GENOCIDE IN BOSNIA • In an attempt to keep his hold over all of the former Yugoslavia, Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic began ethnically cleansing non-Serbs in Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia. Murder, rape and concentration camps were rampant. In order to end the genocide, President Clinton sent troops to lead a NATO invasion.
WAR IN KOSOVO • In 1998-99, the Serbian province of Kosovo declared independence. After Serbia began attacking, President Clinton bombed Serbia and NATO forces occupied Kosovo as peacekeepers. Afterward, both sides of the conflict were charged with crimes against humanity.
