Annual Preparation Activities (May) This update includes Primary & Secondary contact information for: • Office, Cell, Home, Satellite phones • E-Mail, Text Message address/numbers • Mailing Address
Information we need to capture is: 1. Is the airport OPEN or CLOSED? 2. What RUNWAY(s) are OPEN /CLOSED Summary of runway status, including basic open/closed information, as well as damage (e.g., flooding or debris); also include any available information on ramps and taxiways; remember to include projected return to full operations if available. 3. What DAMAGE occurred at your airport? 4. Estimated DAMAGE COSTS - per element (i.e. terminal roof $25K, runway lights $5K) Summary of damage or lack thereof to, as applicable, to physical plant of: (if in separate building), terminal, and support buildings 5. Status of your ARFF vehicle & staffing Summary Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting (ARFF)capabilities; include information on ARFF crew availability, equipment, supplies, etc.
Information we need to capture is (Cont.): 6.How many DAYS of : • JET-A is available? • Aviation gasoline is available? 7. What is the status of your ENGINE GENERATORS: • Airfield (all runways?) • Fuel farms / FBOs • Terminal Bldg 8. What are your AIRPORT Staffing levels? Operations & maintenance (Percentage of the Normal Staffing Level) 9. NOTAMS? Request the airport update NOTAMS – Be sure to coordinate with ATCT and Tech Ops.
Deployment Missions: Operational Safety & Damage Assessment • Certification Inspectors: Perform a Part 139 Surveillance Inspection. • Program Manager: Infrastructure needs of the airport, and increased grant oversight.
Missions may require pre or post-staging of personnel with a “Go Kit”. Means of Transportation for staging: • Commercial Service. • FAA Aircraft based on Operational Necessity as determined by the Regional Administrator. • Other means.
Go Kit contents: • Communications Equipment • Gov’t Emergency Telecommunications Service Card • Binder with contacts and telephone numbers. • Digital Camera • VFR Sectional Chart • Road Atlas, local road map • Airport Facility Directory • Emergency Responder Placard (FAA Form 1900-2)
Deployment Readiness (Boy Scout Motto : “Be Prepared”) Self-supporting for up to five days. • Clothing/Comfortable boots. • Cell Phone & Camera. • Sleeping Bag. • Sunglasses & wide brim hat. • Radio & flashlight with extra batteries. • Medication, Shots (Hepatitis A & B, Tetanus) • Food, water, toiletries, mosquito repellent, sun lotion, Anti-Bacterial soap & wipes.
