Pandemic Planning 2007-08 • Queensland Health provided funding of $100,000 • To increase the capacity of DGP to support general practice in local planning and preparedness. • Resource devlopment • Participation in district level pandemic planning • $60,000 - three pilot sites - GPC, GPGC & GPpartners (rep. • Brisbane Urban divisions). • $40,000, 3 non-pilot sites - CQRDGP, TGPN & • GPConnections. • Convened the Pandemic Planning Workgroup • - representatives from 3 pilot Divisions, GPs, QH & GPQ
Pilot Sites Deliverables • GP participation in district planning processes • Development of models and strategies addressing general • practice response including: • Models for practice preparedness - GP and Practice Manager surveys • Identifying the role of GPs in external flu clinics. • Models for GPs to provide practice based influenza assessments. • Models which identify the key roles GPs and the practice team will have in managing chronically ill patients and patients with co-morbidities • Financial and legal considerations for GPs • Development of a communication plan for general practice
Non-pilot Site - Deliverables • Development and dissemination of resources support • GPs, PNs and practice staff in pandemic planning and • preparedness. • Support for GP participation with the local Population • Health Unit, relevant organisations and other primary • health care providers in local district pandemic planning • and participation in tabletop activities. • Participation of lead GPs in local pandemic planning • activities.
