  1. Welcome To The Services Of The Dunlap church of Christ Questions? Just Let Us Know!

  2. Philippians 4:6-11 “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

  3. (7) And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

  4. (8) Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

  5. (9) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (10) But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again;”

  6. “Wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity. (11) Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.”

  7. Fight To Control Our Thoughts! • Our perceptions are not always based upon reality. • “The slothful mansaith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.” Proverbs 22:13 • Imaginary difficulties and dangers hinder our efforts!

  8. George B. McClellan Because of his temperament and his habitual exaggeration of obstacles and opposing numbers, he refused to fight offensively which resulted in at least 2 years of prolonged war and at least 200,000 more casualties!

  9. Living In Worry & Fear Is A Miserable Existence • And in fact, it is unnecessary! • Genuine, real lasting peace is offered to everyone! “the peace of God that passeth all understanding shall keep (guard) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:7

  10. What Is Worry? • merimnao- take thought 11, care 5, be careful 2, have care ; 1) to be anxious 1a) to be troubled with cares 2) to care for, look out for (a thing) • The root idea is that of thoughtsthat produce burdens and trouble.

  11. Without faith in God it is not possible to logically eliminate worry. “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. (30) But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (31) Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Matt.10:29-31

  12. Faith Vs. Worry • Faith teaches me the difference between what God wants me to do and what God will do. • In other words, we need to accept the things we cannot change. (I Cor. 3:6-7)

  13. Faith Vs. Worry • We need the answer to one question: “Is God with me?” • When that question is answered and obeyed then all is well! • I Peter 3:13 “And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?)

  14. We All Have ALoad Limit God knows! Will we trust Him? Matthew 6:33-34 We are given strength to bear what happens to us, but not the 101 different things that might happen. I Cor.10:13

  15. Things I Must Not Worry About • who will be the leader of our country • how I will pay the bills • what others think of me • my health • the well being of my family

  16. How To Build A Faith That Overcomes Worry I must eliminate things that build worry and chokes faith! Mark 4:19“And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.”

  17. How To Build A Faith That Overcomes Worry 1. Have we placed too much trust in the political system of this country? 2. Do I view my success in the things I own? 3. Do my actions show different priorities than what I profess?

  18. Luke 10:41-42 “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: (42) But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

  19. Are You Weak In Faith? Then Pull The Weeds!

  20. How To Build A Faith That Overcomes Worry I must learn to stand on the promises of God. Many can quote God’s promises but will never be put at risk for them. Matthew 10:9-10, 19-20“Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,”

  21. (10) Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat., (19) But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. (20) For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.”

  22. How To Build A Faith That Overcomes Worry I must choose to make close friends of faith! Philippians 1:27-28 “Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; (28) And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.”

  23. Watch Out For Companions • Many will be destroyed because they walk with scoffers. (Psalm 1:1) • What we feed upon either strengthens or weakens us!

  24. How To Build A Faith That Overcomes Worry I must regularly talk to a living God who sees and knows and cares. IPeter 5:6-7; Philippians 4:6-7 James 1:6-7 Worry will cause our prayers to be in vain.

  25. “Worry is an indication that we think God cannot look after us.”

  26. God’s Simple Plan HEAR (Rom. 10:17) BELIEVE (John 8:24) REPENT (Luke 13:3) CONFESS (Rom. 10:9-10) BAPTIZED (Gal. 3:27) ADDED TO THE CHURCH (Acts 2:41,47)
