Revenue Facts • The more money that is collected at event admissions, theless money that is needed from the general fund to subsidize athletics. • If pay-to-participate increases, that lessens the amount of money coming over from the general fund to subsidize athletics. • The more revenue generated from ticket sales and pay-to-participate does not mean that athletics has more money to spend. Itmeansless money from the general fund is needed to subsidize athletics. • The money from ticket sales and pay-to-participate does not stay with a particular sport. It goes to offset the total cost of athletics.

  5. Other Facts • Reductions in the athletic budget would most likely result in programs being canceled. • All programs fundraise to purchase uniforms, equipment, supplies, and additional coaching. Starting in the fall of 2014 programs will be expected to present a budget overview at their parent meetings. • Participant-funded sports (Club Sports) raise their money to cover the expenses of the sport.
