  11. Environmental Development Program (EDP)

  12. Goals and Objectives The Environmental Development Program (EDP) is based on the principle of sustainable development, that is, environmental protection and socio-economic development are complementary and enhance one another. The goal of the program is to make a significant contribution in environmental protection and enhancement and in the sustainable development and utilization of natural resources in line with the government's policy thrusts.

  13. EDP caters to the environmental financing needs of both the government and the private sector in: • Improving the quality of the environment in ways that also assist industries to achieve production efficiency and competitiveness as well as regulatory compliance. • Enabling local government units to manage environment and natural resources in ways that increases their income and their capability to respond to the needs of their constituents; and • Developing and managing natural resources sustainability in ways that provides communities with basic needs including potable water, sanitation services, waste management and reliable and affordable electricity; and opportunities for alternative livelihood and enterprise development.

  14. Credit Programs • Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution • Clean Alternative Transport Fuel • Water Supply and Sanitation Services • Solid and Hazardous Wastes Management • Water and Air Pollution Prevention and Control • Eco Tourism • Carbon Sequestration

  15. Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution • Small-scale energy generation and mini-grid rural electrification projects thru renewable energy resources • Stand-alone renewable energy rural electrification project, including the marketing, sale, purchase, and installation of Renewable Energy Technology systems • Any project which improves the reliability and efficiency of rural power supply and increases access to electricity services by underserved customers

  16. Clean Alternative Transport Fuel • Projects that will reduce air pollutant emissions from motor vehicles • Acquisition of Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) vehicles run by LPG/CNG • Vehicle conversion / retrofitting • Fuel Supply Infrastructure Facilities • Transmission • Distribution e.g. refueling stations, blending stations / depots, specialized tankers • LPG / CNG Vehicle Support Service Facilities • Service Centers • Conversion / retrofitting shops

  17. Clean Alternative Transport Fuel • Equipment and / or technology supply e.g. cylinder tanks, conversion kits, etc. • Investments in the production of alternative fuel for vehicles and industry (e.g. coco methyl ester, bioethanol) • Investments in supply infrastructure facilities including distribution facilities for alternative fuels e.g blending stations / depots, specialized tankers.

  18. Water Supply and Sanitation Services • Bulk water supply • Level 3 water supply system (New, rehabilitation and expansion) • Sanitation services • Urban drainage

  19. Solid and Hazardous Wastes Management • Closure and rehabilitation of dumpsite • Conversion of dumpsite Into sanitary landfill • Construction of sanitary landfill • Solid waste collection, transport, treatment and disposal including acquisition of equipment

  20. Solid and Hazardous Wastes Management • Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) / composting facility • Industrial waste recycling treatment or disposal • Hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal

  21. Air and Water PollutionControl • Projects that improve the quality of the environment thru pollution prevention and reduction including environmental monitoring instruments and equipment • Occupational health and safety improvements • Reduction of raw materials inputs for production

  22. Air and Water PollutionControl • Waste minimization / clean technology in industrial processes / pollution prevention • Wastewater and sewerage treatment facility • Establishment of EMS & IS0 14001certification • Relocation of pollutive industry from residential area

  23. Air and Water PollutionControl • Contracts for capital goods & services within the environment sector • Investments in energy savings equipment • Support for environmental investments as well as industries undergoing restructuring

  24. Eco Tourism Eco-tourism facilities and support infrastructure particularly those located along coastlines and protected forest zones.

  25. Carbon Sequestration Afforestation and reforestation in private lands

  26. DBP believes that improving the environment can be done by helping establish forests and thereby prevent soil erosion, conserve water, provide habitat to wildlife and, more importantly, create rural livelihood opportunities

  27. What is DBP Forest? DBP Forest is a project of the Development Bank of the Philippines whose long term vision is to develop downstream industries in the rural areas by encouraging the forestation of open areas through the planting of high value fruit trees and other useful species, like bamboo and ilang-ilang.

  28. What is DBP Forest ? Other similar undertakings include coastal rehabilitation through planting of mangroves and establishment of tree parks. Secondary considerations resulting from the tree plating projects are improvement in spawning grounds for terrestrial and marine aquatic life.

  29. Modes of Establishing DBP Forest DBP-OWNED FOREST • Utilizing DBP acquired assets • Leasing from DENR under the Socialized Integrated Forest Management Agreement (SIFMA) Program for areas of 500 hectares or larger areas thru an Integrated Forest Management Agreement (IFMA)

  30. Modes of Establishing DBP Forest • State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) • People’s Organization (POs) that have been awarded Community-Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFM) by DENR and / or in tandem with local government unit • Local Government Units (LGUs) • Other Government Agencies which have large forest areas under their management PARTNERSHIP FOREST Thru partnerships with institutions and agencies that are involved in forestland development as follows:
