  1. FA007089Review of Appendix 16 Election of CRTP and URTP Members

  2. Current Policy • CRTPC and URTPC elections must be completed by third week of MAY in each academic year. • CRTP Committees have three to five members • URTP Committee has a member from each college and one member from related areas.

  3. Current Policy • If a member of CRTPC cannot continue to serve, the URTPC recommends a substitute until next regular election • When there is no CRTPC all responsibilities are defaulted to URTPC • If a member of URTPC cannot continue to serve, the EC recommends a substitute until next election.

  4. Discussion • The EC is experiencing difficulty in populating these committees • Members of the URTPC must be elected. Appointment is a violation of CBA • The CFA campus President was consulted and confirmed that members of CRTPC should also be elected. • The Academic Senate is holding special elections to fill seats that become vacant.

  5. Discussion (continued) • FA needs help as what to do and is asking for ideas from faculty and administrators • Here are some options: • Mandatory Service • Election will be among all eligible faculty and whoever is elected must serve. If cannot continue the next highest vote getter will substitute – Quality is the main issue • Eliminate CRTPC • Increases the pool of faculty members available for URTP – reduced oversight is an issue • Status quo • No CRTPC increases URTP workload • Does not solve the problem with URTP

  6. Discussion (continued) • Please discuss the issue in your college and department and email your ideas to ahalati@csupomona.edu
