LMC Volunteers: Assisting Students and Promoting Reading

Welcome to the Reba O. Steck Elementary School LMC team! As a volunteer, you will greet students, assist them in finding books, check in and shelve books, and help promote reading through organized displays. Familiarize yourself with the Dewey Decimal System to assist students in locating books.

  3. Priority#2:Books Checkin,clean,sortandshelvebooks fromthestudentbookreturnandthe teacherbookreturn. Beonthelookoutforbooksneeding, newspineorbarcodelabels,repairor replacement(weeds).Pleaseputthem asidewithanexplanationpost-itnote. ShelvePRECISELY–Reviewthe “AboutShelving”guideinthe VolunteerPacket.   

  4. Priority#3: ReadingPromotion KidsDOjudgebooksbytheircovers. Howbooksarepresentedordisplayed isimportanttopromotingreading. Studentswanttofindthebooksthat theyarelookingfor.Readtheshelves (checkfororder)andstraighten shelveseverytimeyouvolunteer.  
