  3. Sebastopol Rotary Club Program Requirements • Students who have overcome significant obstacles • Seniors Graduating High School • Planning to Attend Post High Education

  4. Sebastopol Rotary Club Program Sebastopol School District • Three High Schools • Counselors Advertise the program to selected students • Receive 10 to 20 Applications each year

  6. Sebastopol Rotary Club Program • Selection • Committee Screens Applications • Criteria • Hardship – 35% • Academic – 15% • Future Goals – 15% • Support Structure – 10% • Character – 15% • Service – 10% • Committee meets to pick 6 Students out 10 to 20 applications

  7. Sebastopol Rotary Club Program Those Selected • All are WINNERS! • Guaranteed to receive $1000 scholarship + $200 for spending money • After speeches, one receives an additional $1000 • Winners meet with Rotarians to “ice break” and practice speech • Mentor is assigned each student

  8. Sebastopol Rotary Club Program One Day Event • Morning • Leadership Conference – Small Group • Four Special Adult Speakers • All have overcome obstacles • All are “successful” • Pick to relate with Students and to match student obstacles

  9. Sebastopol Rotary Club Program One Day Event • Luncheon Meeting – Rotary Club Members and Guests • Students give 5 minute talk • Obstacle • Where they are now • Plans for future
