  2. GOOGLE ASSISTANT IS BILINGUAL CURRENTLY, IT CAN SUPPORT ANY PAIR OF THE FOLLOWING LANGUAGES: English German French Spanish Italian Japanese Google announced at the end of August 2018 that Google Assistant is bilingual with new smart home devices. As more devices are integrated with Google Assistant across the globe, Google added the multilingual support. According to Google, the Assistant will now be “able to understand and speak more than one language at a time.” This means Google can handle queries in one language and a follow-up question in a different one.

  3. ANYTHINGSEO More languages are expected to part of the expansion in the coming months. For the record, Google Assistant replies in the language of the query it’s answering. Users can now speak two languages interchangeably with Google Assistant on smart speakers and phones. The new feature aims to serve bilingual households better. It also serves Google’s international ambitions. The bilingual feature will be very helpful for users who speak their native language at home and a different one while at work or outside with friends. Users had to physically designate a primary and secondary language in the app’s settings before, but this new feature allows organic engagement. This is a lead to multilingualism, which according to Digital Trends, is a natural progression of Google’s direction. MORE LANGUAGES

  4. ANYTHINGSEO What does this mean for SEO? This new feature is a great advancement towards voice-only search. According to the Global Web Index Voice Search Report, 27% of the global online population is now using voice search on mobile. It is also worth noting that 34% of internet users say they are interested in purchasing a voice-controlled smart assistant. Google Home, one of the latest digital assistants, is a single-result search device. Featured snippets are designed for this very purpose. Meaning, SEO professionals should optimise their site for featured snippets. Not only this, integrating voice in your brands is crucial. Creating conversation actions or smart home actions through the internet of things technology by using Google Actions or Alexa skills with the brand’s product or service will provide users direct interaction using voice. Early adopters will be able to position their brand as the premier one in the field. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR SEO?
