  1. Prayer Mark 14:32-42

  2. Then they came to a place which was named Gethsemane; and He said to His disciples, "Sit here while I pray.“ And He took Peter, James, and John with Him, and He began to be troubled and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch." He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.“ Mark 14:32-36 (NKJ)

  3. Then He came and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, "Simon, are you sleeping? Could you not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.“ Again He went away and prayed, and spoke the same words. And when He returned, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer Him. Then He came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? It is enough! The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going. See, My betrayer is at hand.“ Mk. 14:37- 42 (NKJ)

  4. Prayer Mk. 14:32-42 • Be Consistent

  5. Coming out, He went to the Mount of Olives, as He was accustomed, and His disciples also followed Him. Luke 22:39 (NKJ)

  6. And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples. John 18:2 (NKJ)

  7. So He Himself often withdrew into the wilderness and prayed. Lk. 5:16 (NKJ)

  8. Prayer Mk. 14:32-42 • Be Consistent • Be Emotional

  9. And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Lk. 22:44 (NKJ)

  10. Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:26-27 (NKJ)

  11. Prayer Mk. 14:32-42 • Be Consistent • Be Emotional • Be Short & Simple

  12. So He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one." Luke 11:2-4 (NKJ)

  13. Prayer Mk. 14:32-42 • Be Consistent • Be Emotional • Be Short & Simple • Be Obedient

  14. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep My commandments. John 14:13-15(NKJ)

  15. Prayer Mk. 14:32-42 • Be Consistent • Be Emotional • Be Short & Simple • Be Obedient • Be Persistent

  16. Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man. Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, "Get justice for me from my adversary.‘ And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, "Though I do not fear God nor regard man, yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me."‘ Luke 18:1-5 (NKJ)
