  1. Summer 2011 - RJ Gross June 27 - Lecture 2 “Pre-CAM Process” efunda DASL 140 – CNC Machining & CAM

  2. Machine Code Mini-Hubo Foot Folded 3D Model is imported into Inventor

  3. Machine Code Folded Model is split into pieces as the bends and reassembled into its flattened form. Material is added at the bends to compensate for shortening when bent.

  4. Machine Code 2D orthographic views are exported as DXFs then saved as 2007 DWGs using AutoCAD.

  5. Machine Code PreCAM includes discerning and adding tool paths for each drilling and milling operation. Tabs are also added for breakout pieces.

  6. Machine Code MasterCAM X3 is used to create tool paths from lines of imported DWG PreCAM file. Pockets, contours, slots, and drilled holes are added here.

  7. Machine Code Tool paths are verified in 3D to show successful machine operations.

  8. Machine Code Fixturing, in this case clamping to a beater plate, is half of the battle.

  9. Machine Code Milling the outer contour with a 6mm Endmill. Tabs were left around perimeter to keep part in material from breaking completely out of the clamped stock.

  10. Machine Code Finished Foot. Scored for bending.
