Winter Recruiting Corps Recruiting
Overview of Winter Recruiting • Do’s and Don’ts • Working with other cadets • Pre-Recruiting Info • Recruiting over the break • Post-Recruiting Info
Do’s and Don’ts • DO • Smile, be approachable, and look sharp • Talk about the corps in a positive light • Be short, sweet, and to the point • DON’T • Use corps jargon (pisshead, crapout, smoke) • Curse • Give long complex answers to questions
Other Cadets • Work with other cadets in your area • Why? • It’s better to go in a team and share different experiences • If one of you blanks while you’re talking the other can step in • You can talk to more than one person at once at a table that you’ve set up • List of cadets by high school published on 3 Dec
Pre-Recruiting Info • All cadets need to register the visit(s) on-line on the right side of the recruiting page of the cadet intranet by Fri 30 Nov. It is also an announcement on Cadets intranet. • The purpose of the GoogleDoc is to get a count/list of how many cadets will be going to each high school in order to coordinate the visit and distribute recruiting packets for the visit.
Pre-Recruiting Info (cont.) • On 3Dec we will publish a list of all cadets going to each high school, so cadets can see which other cadets are planning to recruit at the same high school. • We are only authorized one visit per high school so the highest ranking cadet signed up for each high school is responsible for scheduling and organizing the visit. • Do not call the high school directly. You must call and/or email the Aggie Corps Recruiter (former Corps member) listed for your high school to coordinate your high school visit. If no ACR is listed for your high school the senior ranking cadet will call and coordinate the visit. • The ACR contact information (name, phone, and email) for your high school will be posted on the list.
Pre-Recruiting Info (cont.) • Beginning Wed 5 Dec and before leaving on break, have one cadet for each high school visit stop by the Corps Center and pick up a recruiting package for your registered high school(s). • Only one package will be issued per high school. • Refer to the recruiting page of the cadet intranet for additional recruiting materials such as: Hometown Recruiting form, Recruiting High School introduction letter, Corps Recruiting Powerpoint Brief, and Prospect Cards.
Recruiting over the break • Main focus is high school juniors and also seniors who have applied to TAMU: application deadline 15 Jan 2012; scholarship deadline is 1 Dec is past due. • Talk to ROTC classes • Set up a table in the cafeteria at lunch • Talk to the band • Ask the counselors to make an announcement that you’ll be speaking to interested people at a certain time and place • Boy Scout Troops, Churches, City Rec Centers, etc. – you do not need the ACR to coordinate these visits
Post-Recruiting • Be sure and get your Hometown Recruiting form signedby counselor/principal and collect prospect cards during your visit. • After the Winter Break, each cadet needs to return their signed Hometown Recruiting Forms and prospect cards to Corps Recruiting before Wed 23 Jan 13 to receive unit credit for the JJ Sanchez Award.
