  1. Master Baseboard Installation in 7 Steps Are you planning to install a baseboard? Installing baseboards may seem difficult initially, but it doesn’t have to be. With our simple guide, you can master baseboard installation in no time.

  2. Introduction • What are baseboards? Baseboards are thin strips of wood or other material installed along the bottom of walls. • They serve several purposes, including: i) Hiding the gap between the wall and the floor ii) Protecting the walls from damage iii) Adding a decorative touch

  3. What you'll need: Mitre saw Tape measure Level Caulking gun Caulk Hammer Nails Wood putty Sandpaper Paint or primer (optional) Tools and Materials

  4. Measure the length of each wall where you will be installing the baseboards. Add 1 inch to each measurement to allow for cutting errors. Cut the baseboards to the desired length using a mitre saw. Measure and cut the baseboards

  5. Attach the baseboards to the wall • Apply a thin line of caulk to the back of the baseboard. • Press the baseboard into place on the wall, making sure it is level. • Nail the baseboard to the wall through the pre-drilled holes.

  6. Attach the baseboards to the wall • Use caulk to fill in any gaps between the baseboard and wall. • Apply wood putty to the nail holes. • Sand the putty smooth once it is dry.

  7. If you want to paint or prime the baseboards, do so now. Let the paint or primer dry completely. Paint or prime the baseboards (optional)

  8. Use a stud finder to locate the studs in the wall before you nail the baseboards. If you are installing the baseboards in a room with corners, you will need to cut the baseboards at a 45-degree angle. Be careful not to over-caulk the gaps between the baseboard and the wall. If you are not sure how to do something, hire a professional. Additional Tips:
