This project focuses on developing master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries, involving tasks like project management, analysis of natural disasters, workshop participation, and dissemination efforts. Various activities have been undertaken, such as collecting and translating necessary documents, expert consultations, literature review, identification of natural disasters in Kosovo, preparation of reports, workshop participation, establishment of contacts, curriculum development, and awareness surveys. The aim is to enhance education and preparedness for effective disaster risk management.

Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries What have we done so far: WP 8.1 (Project Management) • Collecting of documents required for the project. Translation of documents required for the project. • Expert consultations with school colleagues regarding the project tasks assignments. • Closer introduction to the work and activities of project partners. • Review of literature on occupational safety and its importance in prevention or minimizing the risks in workplace that may occur as a result of natural disasters or catastrophes. • Consultations regarding the kick-off meeting. • Preparation of presentation and documents for kick-off meeting. • Participation in the kick-off meeting held in Nis (14th – 16th December). • From an administrative perspective, the partnership agreement has been signed by the university and the required number of copies returned to the coordinator.
Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries What have we done so far: WP 1 (Analysis of natural disasters needed to be managed in Western Balkan region) • Identification of natural disasters needed to be managed in Kosovo*. Investigation of the area regarding the risk of natural disasters. Acquisition of information regarding the potential risks. • Preparation of the report for BOKU meeting. • The report on the existing disasters and risk management practices in Kosovo* was created and delivered to WP1 leaders (BOKU) . • The contacts with different subject in Kosovo* regarding natural disasters have been established.
Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries What have we done so far: WP 1 • A 1.3 (Workshop on master curricula best practices…) – we prepared a preliminary version of the new master curriculum for natural disasters risk management. With joint work we created this preliminary version with potential course content taking into account the oncoming accreditation process and the proposal was delivered to UNI; the preliminary version will be probably be harmonized with the guidelines and recommendations of EU project partners. • We participated the Workshop on master curricula best practices in EU partners held from 5 to 7 April 2017, at BOKU, Vienna, Austria. WP 2 (Development of master curricula) • We contacted the relevant institutions in Kosovo* regarding the procedure for defining the requirements for admission and enrolment of students and for the innovation of the existing classification of occupations in Kosovo*.
Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries What have we done so far: WP2 • The draft version of the proposal for a new plan and program of the ND course on TCASU was discussed on workshop in Vienna • Tender Opening and selection of offers was carried out on 03 May 2017, in Leposavic, Kosovo*. After tender opening, the commission will select the best offers WP 3 (A 3.1 Survey of citizens’ and public sector awareness) • The questionnaires created by UNID we distributed to target groups (citizens, public sectors, students, etc). The total 309 respondents participated the survey and the questionnaires were delivered to UNI.

(http://www.vtsurosevac.com/Sajt/Projekti.php ).
Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries What have we done so far: • Two representatives were appointed for the tendering procedure (March 2017). • The TCASU’s School Council adopted the Decision on appointing the members of the TCASU’s project team participating in the NatRisk project (January 2017) • The Annex VII was signed and delivered to UNI – bank account details of the beneficiary. (February 2017) • The Annex IX was signed and delivered to UNI – partner request for first instalment of the first pre-financing. (February 2017) • A total amount of 2,825.25 EUR was transferred to the TCASU’s separate foreign currency account. (13 March 2017) • First Financial Report for the period from 15 October 2016 until 14 April 2017 was created and sent to UNI.
Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries Next steps to be taken: • To purchase equipment and software for the laboratory; to install the equipment and software, deadline June 2017 . • Appoint TCASU teachers that will participate in the teaching staff trainings aimed at educating WB teachers about innovative teaching methods, as well as improving their professional, pedagogical and methodological knowledge, which will be organized in EU partner institutions (May 2017 – OE, Hungary 2017, June 2017 – MUHEC, UK, September 2017 – UNIME, Italy).
Development of master curricula for natural disasters risk management in Western Balkan countries Next steps to be taken: • Increase the project’s visibility and its final outcome – Master curriculum on natural disasters risk management – through the TCASU’s official website, advertise master program via websites that promote education. • Define aims, specific competencies and learning outcomes of master curriculum – deadline August 2017 • Define courses content and syllabi – deadline December 2017
