  3. The Case Before Us • Windows Vista • What we looked at. • Who our sources were. • What they had to say, and…Does it REALLY matter?

  4. The Idea and Our Methods… We decided early on to look not at a comparison between MAC v. PC but to determine the use of Windows Vista among PC users. By eliminating the contest, we were able to get a clearer picture of the PC users satisfaction with a new Windows product and determine the consumers response to a need for Vista, it’s use and satisfaction levels.

  5. Our Methods Con’t. We employed the use of an online survey to gain answers to questions about the use of Vista among PC users. Our survey was located at: http://www.ywphelp.com In contained 20 questions associated with PC users opinions , thoughts and experiences with Windows Vista and its forerunners. The results are available at the same site.

  6. The Survey says… Microsoft Experience Survey: One of the questions asked about likelihood to adopt the Vista Platform Interestingly, nearly 60% of respondents would NOT be likely to adopt the platform, unless required. Average

  7. The Survey says… Microsoft Experience Survey: Most recent platform used prior to Vista… 76% of respondents say Windows XP “I do what I’m told by people who know more than I do.” Change is in the hands of the decision makers…not the end users. Average

  8. The Why’s • The Proponents Speak: • I like everything about it. It’s great. The security is superior and the networking and firewall stuff is cool. • I user it quite often. I get lonely in the Amazon. • I like the way it looks. • I think it is a little more user friendly. • Vista seems to be able to better thwart the virus mongers and adware/spyware bunch. • Looks better, simpler interface, runs faster, more advanced, more current.

  9. The Why Not’s • The Opposition Speaks: • It’s too different. • I keep getting annoying windows about security, this is overkill. • Much of the hardware and software that used to work on XP will not work on Vista. • I hear it is not very good. • It is shitty.

  11. Get Used to this symbol The bottom line is that you might as well get used to the changes… Microsoft may not control the world but they do maintain a stronghold over the PC operating system market and things aren’t changing anytime soon…
