Slide 4:eAuthentication Update
Successfully expanded the core WebCAAF system on 10/19/2003 in order to meet the Government Paperwork Elimination deadline: Added Identity Management to enable the creation of roles and to protect agency applications; Implemented Self-registration capabilities; and Expanded service to accommodate applications agencies plan to integrate. Currently integrating 14 agency applications. Trained over 3,300 Local Registration Authorities (LRAs). Help-desk support available to assist users with technical issues. Created FY ‘04 Funding models for agencies to review. High energy Welcome. Get jazzed. Slide 5:eAuthentication Next Steps
Support USDA eGovernment Act submission re: GPEA data request. Enhance the user experience in WebCAAF with updates to the registration pages, eAuthentication portal pages, and LRA pages. Continue to integrate agency applications with WebCAAF. Design registration processes for integrating employee users and employee applications with WebCAAF. Integrate WebCAAF with the GSA eAuthentication pilot for Grants.gov. Create strategy for integrating NFC PKI and WebCAAF into an overall USDA eAuthentication solution.
Slide 6:eDeployment Update: Product Selection
Over several intensive weeks, cross-agency USDA teams evaluated vendor products for enterprise-wide solutions for: Portal; Web Content Management; and Document/Records Management. A cross-agency technical architecture team further evaluated products and provided the product teams with recommendations. Product teams then formalized final recommendations to OCIO.

eGov Team has begun the total cost of ownership and initial start up cost assessments for deploying the solution. Begin procurement process. NDA still enforced. Define governance process, operations plan and organizational support model. Complete technical architecture design. Work with NITC to define hosting approach.

Created design templates for usda.gov and Web Presence. Developed HTML “mini-site” for purposes of usability testing. Conducted one full week of usability testing for usda.gov: Completed 16 one-hour test sessions with users representing USDA’s key audiences; Assessed site navigation, content/terminology, look and feel; and Compiled usability test data and proposed design recommendations. Updated all usda.gov and Web presence design templates with changes resulting from usability testing. Created first iteration of User Interface (UI) Style Guide for USDA agency Web sites and Web-based applications. Available at http://www.egov.usda.gov

Distribute Web Presence UI Style Guide to larger USDA audience for review. Work with Web Presence team members, webmasters and decision makers to determine appropriate transition path for agencies. Conduct individualized, tailored meetings soon with agencies/staff offices to review Web Presence standards and discuss Web Presence migration strategy. Provide Web Presence HTML templates to agencies/staff offices. Complete the application detailed design for the usda.gov portal.
Slide 10:eDeployment Update: Taxonomy
Held individual educational sessions with participating agencies and staff offices. Collected drafts from agency/staff office content experts at the end of October and beginning November. Aggregated drafts into one USDA model: Conducted six, all-day working sessions with NAL Thesaurus Group indexing staff. NAL Thesaurus Group was key to meeting November 14th deadline. USDA eGovernment Taxonomy Model released on November 14th.

Update Physical Schema. Update plan for Taxonomy development. Refine and expand the current release: Include additional agencies and staff offices who did not participate in Release One; Agencies and staff offices to review current release; Include suggestions for improvements from agencies and staff offices; Latest version on eGovernment Web site.
Slide 12:eLearning Update/Next Steps
109,207 users have been loaded into GoLearn.gov to date; almost 60,000 USDA users have activated their accounts. LMS Implementation Kick-Off: Functional Design Workshops with Phase I Agencies completed November 17-21. Technical Design Interview being conducted. Evaluation of enterprise-wide collaboration tool. LMS Implementation: Technical Interviews 12/2 – 12/5 Phase 1 Rollout planned for Feb/March ‘04
