DUMP TRUCKS Machinery ROLLER EARTH MOVER EXCAVATOR MULCHER
The dump trucks are the biggest machinery on this project. They weigh 100tonne when fully loaded – or 75 small cars.
Roadworks: The construction of the road called for the movement of 600,000 tonnes of dirt.
Roadworks • 600,000 t of dirt = 300,000 Elephants!
Explosives Overall 73.5 tonnes of explosives were used! The police had to be notified during some of the blasting so that they did not think that it was someone trying to escape from the prison which backs onto the extension of Tiger Brennan Drive.
What is actually being built? When it has all been completed there will be: • Two road overpass bridges • A pedestrian and cyclist bridge • And also many smaller structures.
Bridges It takes 1750m3 Concrete per bridge That’s equal to 25 Swimming Pools
Completion Stage two of the project which is the Tiger Brennan Extension and the much anticipated overpass; is scheduled for completion by the end of 2010.
