  1. Tolerance By: Alyssa Castro Period 2 Intro to Computers

  2. People With Disabilities • People with disabilities in other words are handicapped people. They are those who aren’t just like other people. • These people have some trouble and should be tolerated and be able to fit in with others and to be equally represented. • I think people with disabilities should be treated just like any other person but should have a little bit more attention and make them feel like they aren’t any different.

  3. Gender • Gender is just another way of saying someone’s “sex”. Gander is simply just your classification of being male or female. • Gender should be tolerated because there is nothing different between genders except for some physical parts and things like that. But really, everybody is equal. • I think gender is one of the main things that shouldn’t be treated in a bad way. Men and woman deserve to be treated equally. We don’t want to go back to the time where us, women, didn’t have representation or part in certain activities.

  4. Race/Ethnicity • Race/Ethnicity is what gives us the cultural diversity in our country. It describes where someone is from. A race is the general categorization and ethnicity is the specific. Such as being Asian, the ethnicity would be Chinese, Japanese, or Filipino. • Race and ethnicity should be highly tolerated because what you say or do can really offend others. • Race and Ethnicity is something that shouldn’t get in the way of how people fit in. I also think all those stereotypes and generalizations of different ethnicities should stop.

  5. Assimilation • Assimilations are general assumptions about a person or group. It is applying past knowledge to new existing situations. • Assimilations relate to tolerance because it is something almost everybody has but acts like there is nothing wrong or anything different about it. They should not be tolerated because it is something wrong. You shouldn’t be judging someone by what they have or what they do. It is just like judging a book by its cover. • I think assimilations are negative judgments and should not be made unless you really know about who or what you are making the assimilation to.

  6. Diversity • Diversity is another way of saying something has variety. Our world is diverse because of all the life and species we have. • Diversity should be tolerated because there isn’t really a way to end that unless you become a dictator and find away to segregate everyone from where they are now. • I think our diversity should keep on growing and continue to spread to keep our world from just being separate, and segregated.

  7. Ethnic Foods • Ethnic foods are the foods you and I eat that is from a different country. In reality, almost everything we eat today is an ethnic food because it originated from somewhere else. • Ethnic foods relate to tolerance because they are different and shouldn’t be judged. Don’t let the look stop you from trying it. And don’t offend others on what they eat. • Ethnic foods should be tried more often because it’s a way to spread culture and try new things.

  8. Age • Age is how old someone is and how long they have been living ever since they were born. • Age shouldn’t be judged but not to the point where everybody can just do what they want. This leads to chaos which is reduced by age regulations and limits. • I think age needs to be accepted yet be concerned about.

  9. Valuing differences • Valuing differences is accepting differences in others and things and appreciating it. Such as race, look, etc. • This relates to tolerance because this is just a summary of all the things that need to be tolerated. • I think differences should be valued and tolerated because this keeps us away from segregation, war, and all in all: chaos.

  10. Oppression • Oppression is the exercise of authority or power for a bad reason which leads to having a cruel, burdensome manner. • Oppression shouldn’t be tolerated because this is just like having a dictator and as of right now, you can see many countries don’t like that and are trying to overthrow and stop the power of their “leader” • I think oppression relates to the Holocaust because of Hitler, and all the beating, the death, and the labor the Jews, Gypsies, and others had to go through.

  11. Unity • Unity is when people come together united and is the state of quality of being one. Unity can be achieved by bringing people from many places together and to try to get others to accept one another. • Unity should be tolerated because it is a goal that everyone should try to reach and succeed in. • If our world finally unites as one, we would have no wars and have some weight lifted off our shoulders.

  12. Bias • Bias is just like favoritism, you vote for things based on whether you like it or not and not the real reason. • Being biased shouldn’t be tolerated because it is unfair, and unjust. • I think almost everyone votes on things such as president and other elections based on favoritism or a different factor. Just like Obama being elected because of his race.

  13. Inclusion or Exclusion • Inclusion and exclusion is being included or excluded. If you are fitted in, and welcomed in or left out. • Inclusion should be tolerated because that’s what brings people together. However, exclusion is the opposite. • I think everyone should be included in something that they want to be part in and not excluded for some silly reason.

  14. Thanks for watching  • I have seen great intolerance shown in support of tolerance. • Samuel Taylor Coleridge • The only way to make sure people you agree with can speak, is to support the rights of people you don’t agree with -Eleanor Holmes Norton
