Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation Protects and restores Iowa’s land, water and wildlife… …which can lead to improved recreation opportunities and quality of life, “for those who follow.”
INHF since 1979… • 110,000 acres protected • Over 700 land projects • 93 of 99 Counties • Over 160 interns trained • 7000 members Projects continue to get larger, more complex, and more expensive
INHF’s Trail Contributions… • Assisted in the acquisition and/or implementation of over 750 miles of trail corridors • Rail-Trail focus – early acquisition role • Public policy at the state or federal level • Participate in regional trail planning efforts • Provide technical assistance to counties and cities • Trails are some of the most difficult and complicated projects
