Purpose of Intermodal Transit Station Study • The ITSS involves planning for a multimodal transportation hub to serve the Daytona Beach area. • The study area focuses on the geographic area near the Daytona Beach International Airport, including the ISB corridor between I-95 and US 1. • The station will support the development of a system where various modes of transportation could be integrated economically, efficiently and safely to move people and goods. • Maintain the balance between mobility and accessibility while stimulating the economic growth within the region.
What Is An Intermodal Transit Station? • A transportation hub connecting multiple transportation modes at a centralized location improving mobility and connections. • The intermodal transit station facilitates transfers between public transit modes and may also provide connections to other transport operators such as taxi, car rental and regional or intercity bus, rail or air travel. • The station may also provide a convenient method of transfer between auto travel and transit through Park-and-Ride and “Kiss-and-Ride” facilities.
