  1. The 1stYear By tracing His steps, will we learn to follow?

  2. Jesus had to decide what kind of Messiah He would be, and how He would use His anointing from God

  3. Luke 4:1-2 Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness, 2 where he was tempted by the devil for forty days. Jesus ate nothing all that time and became very hungry.

  4. Some things for us to unpack He was Full of the Holy Spirit He was lead by the Spirit He was tempted by the Devil

  5. Luke 4:3-4 Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.” 4 But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, ‘People do not live by bread alone.’ ” 

  6. Jesus was tempted to use His anointing and position to serve His own self interest It’s still one of the biggest temptations that we face

  7. How did Jesus overcome this temptation? With God’s word!

  8. Luke 4:5-8 Then the devil took him up and revealed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 “I will give you the glory of these kingdoms and authority over them,” the devil said, “because they are mine to give to anyone I please. 7 I will give it all to you if you will worship

  9. Luke 4:5-8 me.” 8 Jesus replied, “The Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”

  10. This was tempting Jesus to have His kingdom now, and not latter. Does what we’ve made get our worship?

  11. Luke 4:9-12 Then the devil took him to Jerusalem, to the highest point of the Temple, and said, “If you are the Son of God, jump off! 10 For the Scriptures say, ‘He will order his angels to protect and guard you. 11 And they will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your

  13. Jesus is tempted to misuse the Word of God We have to become followers who really know His word.

  15. What do we need to understand? Satan is always looking for an opportunity to attack us

  16. 1 Peter 5:8-9 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

  17. What do we need to understand? Satan is always looking for an opportunity to attack us We have to come to grips with what pulls us away from God

  18. 1 John 2:15-17 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

  19. What do we need to understand? Satan is always looking for an opportunity to attack us We have to come to grips with what pulls us away from God We must understands that we are in a fight

Ephesians 6:10-17 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
