Staffing Update • Welcome new PO, Katie Koski! • Currently interviewing to fill another AmeriCorps Program Officer position • Promising candidates hope to have one on board by early January • Doing our best to support programs, apologies in advance for delays or needing additional reminders • Rachel on maternity leave through end of February • Just hired a Controller, Kimberly Valimont • In the process of hiring VGF Program Coordinator
18-19 Grants Process • All re-competing programs are working on full application drafts • Hoping to finalize drafts by the end of December/early January • January 17 – CNCS’ submission deadline • Elizabeth, Lisl & Gretchen are working with some programs • Continuation applications • Finalize drafts by the end of December • Change in application instructions • Submit in eGrants by early January • eGrants submissions • Please respect PO guidance around deadlines and feedback • Formula Programs • Continuation drafts will be due in early spring • ASC general update – potential of creating a 1,200 slot type
NSCHC Updates • The Puerto Rico sex offender registry is still affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Maria and is sporadically reporting to NSOPW.gov. • CNCS provided an exemption if: • The member or staff starts(ed) service sometime between September 19 and March 1, 2018 • The NSOPW check is re-conducted and documented by March 15th 2018 • Must complete annually required NSCHC e-course National Service Criminal History Check FAQs document • Must be completed each year before the day that the certificate from the previous year expires • Keep certificate of completion as documentation and send to your PO • Still waiting to hear from CNCS about disallowance processing from 16-17
Final Progress Reports • Programs did well getting reports in on-time and with the correct information • Please make sure to provide clear and concise explanations for on-going and unmet targets that can be sent directly to CNCS, especially with final reports –Answer what question is, not what you’d like it to be :) –Character limits when MSA enters into eGrants –Unmet targets, including retention and enrollment: focus on broad explanations and what program will do to improve –MSA is working on making modifications on our end • Some issues with using correct AmeriCorps language –Serve, not work; Select, not hire; Position, not job; etc.
