Programme: • Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 • 08:00 Departure from Bucharest to Sibiu; Meeting point: the parking place in front of the Athenaeum (meeting between 7:30-7:45) • 13:30 – 15:30 Visit of Karpaten Meat SRL inMarpod, near Sibiu. Karpaten Meat produces high quality beef with Angus cattle, bred on natural pastures in Transylvania, using the Swiss know-how and tradition in the Romanian farms. The company will be presented by Mr. Stephan Jung, the Executive Director of Karpaten Meat. • Farm visit and Lunch – around 90 RON/ pers.; • 16:00 – 17:30 Visit of COMPA Sibiu; Host: Mr. Ioan Deac, General Manager and Mr. TiberiuBucur, Sales Manager • Programme of the visit: • presentation of the company; • visit of the production facilities. • 18:00 Check-in at the Hotel Golden Tulip 4*– 260 RON / sglroom and 310 RON / dbl room, breakfast included; • 20:00 Dinner at CramaSibiulVechiSibiu – around 90 RON / pers. (3 course meal, water, 1 glass of wine).
Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 9:00 – Check out and departure to Făgăraș and Azuga; 11:00 – 12:30 Visit of the Lipizzaner Stud Farm Sâmbăta de Jos(guided visit, tickets on Chamber’s charge); 14:30 – 16:30 Lunch and wine tasting at Rhein Winery Azuga– around 90 RON / pers; 16:30 – 19:30 Trip back to Bucharest. The Chamber will offer the transport by coach for free. Participants will pay their meals and hotel overnight. Invoices will be issued and sent by Liberty Intl., our member, a tourism agency.
Karpaten Meat company is owned by the Swiss Samuel Widmer and Stefan Jung. The company was founded in 2008. The managers have many years of professional experience in agriculture, meat production and meat trade. The company’s goal is to set the foundations for sustainable ANGUS-quality beef production in Romania. Their system covers all stages of production: it starts with organic pasture, ranges to breeding and fattening of Angus cattle up to the processing of the meat. LIPIZZANER STUD FARM - SAMBATA DE JOS One of the most prestigious Lipizzaner farm around the world is located in Sambata de Jos, there are 7 foundation lines of the Lipizzaner bred which contributed to the current horses collectives (Conversano, Favory, Maestoso, Neapolitano, Pluto, Siglavy-Capriola, Tulipan). The stud farm of Sambata de Jos is the only one in Romania where this breed is kept, being the oldest horse breed of modern Europe. The stud farm is located on the property of Bruckenthal castle, built in 1750 by Count Jozsef Bruckenthal. The Lipizzaner (or Lipizzan) is a breed of horse closely associated with the Spanish Riding School of Vienna, where the finest representatives demonstrate the high school movements of classical dressage, including the highly controlled, stylized jumps and other movements known as the “airs above the ground”. RHEIN WINERY AZUGA Built in 1892, the Rhein Azuga Cellar was the former ‘Supplier of Romania’s Royal Court’, and since April 2006 has been designated ‘Supplier of His Majesty King Michael the First’. The cellar is considered the oldest at which sparkling wine is produced using the traditional method. The Rhein Pension is located in the midst of the majestic Carpathian Mountains. This small hotel consists of 16 suites and two saloons, and can serve 90 people seated for dinner. Eloquently named after grape varieties, the rooms offer a charming view over a 2 ha park. In the cellars situated above the ground, with double walls, black mould and natural ventilation, visitors may fully appreciate the art of producing sparkling wine.
