Backgrounds • KMA/NIMR has participated to WMO THORPEX Program over the last 10 years. • WMO indicated an Implementation Research Plan of “Subseasonal to Seasonal (S2S) Prediction” with relevance to the Global Framework for Climate Services (GFCS) in 22 Jun. 2012 • KMA/NIMR has been leading CORDEX-East Asia and hosted international workshp twice (November 2011 and 2012) • ※ CORDEX (Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment) • KMA/NIMR hosted WMO S2S ICO in • Jeju (WMO5524-13/RES/ARE/WWR, • dated on 25 April) and signed MoU • between WMO and KMA during EC • meeting on 16 May 2013 in Geneva
WMO S2S ICO: Responsibilities • Responsibilities of the ICO • - To support and coordinate planning and implementation of S2S activities • - To provide scientific, technical and secretarial support to the S2S Steering Group • - To assist in cooperation between S2S and other relevant international programmes and activities • - To assist with organizing appropriate meetings, workshops, conferences and other activities relevant to S2S • - To prepare reports, correspondence and publications • - To manage S2S website and data base • - To assist in fund raising and recruiting secondments to join the ICO International S2S Steering Group Korean S2S Scientists WMO S2S ICO
