Melvil Dewey • He created the Dewey Decimal Classification when he was 21 years old! • Before Dewey invented his system of classification, each library organized their materials in their own way. Usually only the librarian was able to find specific materials. • The Dewey Decimal system is composed of 10 main categories.
Dewey Decimal Classification • Every book subject is assigned a number between 000 and 999. • This number is called the Call Number. • The call number appears on the spine of the book. Call Number

100 – Philosophy & Psychology • Feelings • Making Friends • Superstitions • Death & Dying • Logic • Optical Illusions
