The higher the rating is more coefficient for affliction.

Fabric Fire Standards • The vertical flame test are generally required for vertical treatments, • such as curtains, draperies, widow shades, large wall hangings or tapestries, • and plastic films used for decorative purposes. Any vertical finish that is • exposed to air on both sides is considered a vertical treatment. • The vertical flame tests include: • NFPA 701 (for shower curtains material), • ASTM D6413 AND UL 214 • CAL 117

7. Signage Requirements When a sign is required by codes, the codes refer to the ICC/ANSI accessibility standard for specific sign requirements. For example, a room number sign needs to meet accessibility requirements including lettering height, mounting locations, lettering contrast, and the use of braille. Most commonly, a sign is mounted 48”-60” above the floor. This height is measured to the base line of the lettering on the sign.The sign must also be mounted on the latch side of the door.

9. A good sign system should begin directing people from the moment they enter your campus/facility. Your signs should be easily read, placed at major decision points, flow logically, and clearly define the layout of the facility. It may take some time to work out the right plan for your signs, but it is a crucial step. Proper signage contributes to the perception people have of your facility and, in cases of emergency evacuations, could very well become a matter of life or death. 31. Elevator Flooring The selection of appropriate elevator flooring is more involved than it might appear at first glance. Elevators are a confined space with usually not the best ventilation. Glued-down carpet in an elevator means the car has to be taken out of service every time the carpet needs to be vacuumed or shampooed and, depending on the atmospheric conditions which effect drying, it can involve a significant amount of time. Using hard flooring cuts down on the drying time, but cleaning time can still remain a factor. In order to cut down on maintenance, weather mats can be deployed in each elevator car to keep the hard floors from becoming slippery when wet. However, no matter how well the mats are installed, they can become a bit of a tripping hazard as older people, small children or handicapped people enter the car mat.
