The Setting and the People • In the south of the large plain in Asia is a grassy and mostly treeless region called the Steppe • {The steppes provide fertile land for agriculture} • The Ural Mountains are considered a boundary between Europe and Asia • Many rivers crisscross the plain and are ideal for transportation and trade because many flow into the Black Sea giving him access to the Mediterranean
