  10. 2. Presentationofthe Project Technical Information

  11. Robust Route Selection – Main Route Selection Principles Applied The process is constraint driven to “identify a technically feasible, safe and secure pipeline centerline and respective AGI sites with minimum impact on environment and land use”. Constraint based Principles: • Constructibility (topography, geomorphology) • Structural Integrity (geohazards – considered as key issue in TANAProute) • Public Safety and Security (distance to settlements) • Authority Provisions • Environment (avoid no-go areas, minimize crossing of protected areas) • CulturalHeritage (IntangibleCulturalHeritageAreas, ArchaeologicalSites) • Land Use (avoid areas of distinct utilization) • Infrastructure (minimize crossings of major infrastructure) • Relation with other existing and planned pipelines • Pipeline Security • Construction Cost (pipeline length) 2. 21. 2. Presentationofthe Project Baseline Studies – Objectives of Baseline Studies • To identify environmentally sensitive and no-go areas. • To identify environmental, social and physical constraints that have direct influence on route selection, design processes, ESIA process and constructionmethodology as well as ESIA process. • To gather baseline information required for National EIA process as well as Lender standards. Approaches; • Detailed literature studies • Intensive ecological and archaeological walk over surveys • Use of advanced technologies like photo traps, aerial photography and GIS • Habitat based ecological studies (in linewith Habitat Directives and EUNIS)

  22. 3. Approach to the E&S Assessment EIA (Local) and ESIA (Lenders) Process Targetis to prepare one single EIA/ESIA report for both Turkish Competent Authority (Ministry of Environment and Urbanization - MoEU) and IFIs(including IFC), as well as other potentiallenders. To achieve this goal, the following sections willbe included in Local EIA report in addition to local requirements: • Social Impact Assessment (SIA), • Livelihood Restoration and Resettlement Action Plan(LRRAP), • Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP), and disclosure • Non-Technical Summary (NTS).

  23. 3. Approach to the E&S Assessment EIA (Local) and ESIA (Lenders) Process ESIA Report to identify and assess the potential environmental and social impacts of the project as stipulated by the following requirements: • Corporate Policies of TANAP • Host Government Agreement (HGA) • Statutory and Regulatory Requirements of Turkey • Requirementsof International Finance Institution (IFI) “theLenders” (mainly based on IFC, EBRD and EIB requirements) • Equator Principles

  25. 4. Stakeholder Engagement Stakeholder Engagement TANAP Stakeholder Engagement Plan aimsto: • Identify key stakeholders including vulnerablegroups; • Ensurethere are adequate mechanisms forreceiving theirfeedbacks and for sharing information; • Ensure issues raised by stakeholders are addressed in the ESIA as well as in project decision-making and design phase; and • Implement a grievance mechanism (forcomments, recommendationsandgrievance)for all stakeholders.

  26. 4. Stakeholder Engagement Grievance Mechanism • Atransparent and comprehensivegrievance mechanism has been establishedto supportan effective stakeholderengagement. • The Grievance Management Procedure has been prepared in accordance with the existing national and international policies, procedures, laws and legislations. • All complaints will be responded within a reasonable timeframe (10 workdays) . • Proposedresolution schedule will be 30 work days.
