NC 62/ Weant Road • 2035 traffic projections. • 27,600 vehicles per day in the vicinity of Weant Road. • Equivalent to current traffic counts on Main Street. • NC 62 Corridor Access Study • Realign Weant Road to connect with existing Modlin Grove Road. • Intersection would be approx. 1100 feet from I 85 ramps. A safe distance for signalization.
Traffic Level of Service (LOS) • Traffic capacity analysis. • Current LOS at peak hour is E. • LOS ratings from A (free flow) to F (forced or breakdown flow). • 2015 build conditions. • Peak hours in am and pm would be LOS B (reasonably free flow). • 2015 no build conditions. • Peak hours in am and pm would be LOS F (forced or breakdown flow).
Funding Strategy • Where We Are: • Meetings with Division 7 NCDOT office. • City staff, MPO staff, consultant. • Discretionary funding has been committed to this project in the amount of $250,000. • Each NCDOT Board member has discretionary funding they can allocate to projects in their division.
Funding Strategy • Next Steps: • Work with NC House and Senate representatives to acquire additional funding commitments. • Complete design plans. • Determine updated project costs. • Right of Way Acquisition.
