  4. “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Luke 16:13 Mammon = “money” ESV Luke 16:14-15 Pharisees were lovers of money Highly esteemed among men Abomination in the sight of God

  6. Rich man Before Death Luke 16:19 “There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:” Sumptuously = Luxury Used possessions for self

  7. 1 John 3:17 “But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” Proverbs 21:13 “Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.” James 4:17 “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

  21. Refutes Many False Doctrines Can live in Wealth and Ease Fate of the rich man is a warning Matthew 16:26 “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”
