Żywiec • Żywiec (German: Saybusch, formerSaubusch) is a towninsouth-central Poland with 32,242 inhabitants (Nov. 2007). Afterbeing part of Bielsko-Biała Voivodeshipfrom 1975 to 1998, ithasbeen part of theSilesianVoivodeshipsince 1999 and includes one of theeightprotectedareasinSilesianVoivodeship, called Żywiec Landscape Park.

Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. M.Kopernika w Żywcu I Liceum Ogólnokształcące (I Grammar School) in Żywiec was founded in 1904 and since 1911 has been based in the same ancient building. Today it is a large, modern school with respect for tradition. At present there are over 1000 students aged between 16 and 19, grouped in classes with focus on various subjects, e.g. Maths-Physics classes, Computer classes, Biology-Chemistry classes, Arts classes etc.
Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. M.Kopernika w Żywcu We possess a wide range of teaching facilities. There are three LAN-connected computer labs, equipped with computers of high standard; 60 computers have constant Internet access. There is a computerised library (over 20,000 books), a Biology lab, a Chemistry lab, a Physics lab, a Geography lab, a History classroom, a few language classrooms and 3 gym halls. In the school year 2007/2008 the School Astronomical Observatory was opened in the building's attic, which came into being thanks to the generosity of the sponsors and which makes it possible to observe the Sun, the Moon and planets.
