  3. Partner Share • How does voting help to promote freedom? • What kinds of things do people vote on? • How is acquiring information from books, newspapers, magazines, and the internet an important way to promote freedom?

Amazing Words • Representation- is having someone in the government who voices your opinions to the government and makes sure the government takes care of your needs • If you want representation of your needs at school, what could you do? • Revolution- a complete change in a government, usually brought about by force • The American Revolution gave independence to the colonies.

  5. Vocabulary • Fate- destiny • His fate was decided at birth. • Fearless- bold • He acted fearless in front of the girls.

  6. Vocabulary • Glimmer- dim light • We read in the glimmer of light. • Lingers-stays • The smell of smoke lingers long after the cigar was put out.

  7. Vocabulary • Magnified-made to look larger • He magnified the ant to look at it. • Somber-gloomy • He stared with a somber look after they lost the game

  8. Vocabulary • Steed- high spirited horse • He rode proudly on his steed.
