Let’s Talk About • Who is sitting at the desk? • What is President Bush doing? Signing a bill. Making laws to help people is another way to promote freedom. One must be very informed to make laws. • How can people promote freedom?

Amazing Words • battlefield- the location of a battle during a war • The battlefield was covered in smoke from the cannons. • Freedom- is the power to do, say, or think as you please • My great grandfather came to the United States to enjoy the freedom of a democratic society.
Amazing Words • Beloved- something that is beloved is dearly loved or very close to someone • The new puppy quickly became a beloved pet. • Battle- a fight between opposing armies, air forces or navies • The general won the battle but had not yet won the war.

Before the Midnight Ride • The author’s purpose is the reason the author has for writing the story. • What can you guess is the author’s purpose before reading the story? • We are going to read about Paul Revere’s life. • Let’s read the story together.
