Our aim is to provide a clear pathway for clubs, players, and officials, fostering aspiration and growing participation in Cricket. By combining league structures, revisiting playing rules, improving facilities, adopting common policies, and securing better resources, we can achieve this.

  1. WELCOME TO THE JOINT MEETING OF

Our Aims and Objectives • To provide a clear and coherent pathway for clubs, players and officials in the area covered by the two Leagues. • To enable and foster aspiration for clubs, players and officials of all abilities. • To grow participation by providing an improved and relevant offer of Cricket. • To reduce travelling distances for those wishing to play more localised Cricket.

  3. How can we achieve this? • By combining our League structures. • By revisiting our playing rules to determine if they are relevant for all players and officials. • By seeking to improve ground standards and facilities for all players and officials. • By adopting common policies on Registration of Players, Results Reporting, Discipline, Website etc. • By using economies of scale to obtain better ball subsidies, sponsorship and commercial backing.

  4. Combined League structure One possible structure would see the following for 2017: • Current Cherwell League Divisions 1-3 would remain the same with promotion/relegation to/from HCPCL • CL Division 4 and OCA Division 1 to combine to form two divisions based on geography • CL Division 5 and OCA Division 2 to similarly combine • CL Division 6 and OCA Division 3 to similarly combine • CL Divisions 7&8 and OCA Divisions 4&5 to combine to form four divisions based on local centres • CL Divisions 9(N) & 9(S) and OCA Divisions 6-9 to combine to form divisions based on local centres • Other teams from the area could join at an appropriate level

Next Steps • League Secretaries will contact clubs to gauge support for further discussions towards an integration of competitions. • Establish a working group to finalise arrangements if a majority of clubs wish to proceed. • Use our proposed new structure to enable an easier transition to the planned ‘Two Valleys’ pyramid. • Carefully monitor any new arrangements and encourage feedback from clubs and players.
