Analysis of the results given by automatic and gravimetric methods
Urban - Paris area Industrial - Normandy
Metrological correction • FDMS correction kit : • equivalence with the gravimetric method (field campaigns : Paris, Le Havre, Marseille) • « automatic » measurement of the volatile fraction • real time correction • 50 “reference” sites equipped with TEOM/TEOM-FDMS devices • Determination of representative areas associated to these sites • The TEOM stations located in these areas are corrected following a near real time process by the observed difference [TEOM/FDMS-TEOM] at the reference site • Implemented since the 1st January 2007
First feedback • A national working group involving the local associations in charge of air quality monitoring is still working hard : technical matters, interpretation, information to public and local authorities. • Test case : exceptional situation in spring 2007 (15th March- 15th April) • Occurrence of high PM episodes (100-130 ug/m3 (corrected), daily mean everywhere in France) • Episodes completely missed by the PREV’AIR forecasting system • Ammonium nitrate ? YES : 60-70 ug/m3 (15th March) -> influence of the high temperatures? Ammonia emissions from agriculture? • Forest fires in Russia? • Saharan dusts?
