  2. Job Search Strategy • Know what you want to do • Create a list of target companies • Develop a plan of action for connecting • Attend networking events, job fairs, events of interest • Update your online presence (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

  3. What do you want to do? • Have clear definition of the type of job(s) you want to target • Create an “elevator speech” • 30 to 60 second pitch articulating what you want to do and who you want to do it for • Start talking – have conversations with professionals in your target field

  4. Create a Target List Identify companies that you want to work for by: • Industry • Geography • Former Co-workers • Alumni • Family/Friends • Articles/Business Journals • Current Job Openings

  5. Connect! • Connect with workers in these organizations: • Alumni database • LinkedIn • Facebook, Twitter, Instagram • Cold Calls

  6. Statistics • LinkedIn – 500 million users • Facebook – 2 billion users • Twitter – 300 million users • Instagram – 800 million

  7. Cold Calling • When all else fails…. • Call the main number for the company and ask for the name of the person hiring for the position • Voicemails are MUCH harder to ignore than an email
