  4. Strategically Hiring • Hire the right people to move forward with your strategy • Then make “what” decisions • Vision • Strategy • Structure • When a change is needed, ACT • Don’t hire just to hire

Confront the Brutal Facts(Yet Never Lose Faith) • Great companies gain success by confronting the brutal facts of their reality • Create a culture within company where people have amazing opportunity to be heard (allows truth to be heard) • Trying to “motivate” employees is a waste of time…Key is to not de-motivate them. • De-motivate by ignoring the brutal facts.

  6. The Hedgehog Concept • The fox knows many things, but hedgehog knows one big thing. • A mix of what you absolutely love to do, what you are paid for doing, and what you are born to do.

Culture of Discipline • Build a culture full of people who take disciplined action within the three circles • Create a culture around freedom and responsibility • Have self-disciplined people willing to fulfill their responsibilities • Don’t be a tyrant • Adhere to the Hedgehog Concept, and create a “stop doing list”

  9. Technology • Think about technology differently • Use it creatively • Not fear of being left behind • Carefully select technology • Think about how it will affect your hedgehog concept • A momentum builder, not a starter

  11. Flywheel • You don’t need a celebration to start being great • Comes about organically • Being great isn’t harder than being good • Keep working to build momentum and people will catch on • You don’t need to motivate the right people

  12. Core Values • Get the right people on the bus • Preserve core values • Slight adaptations are alright • Do something you are passionate about and become great
