The last 15 years: • UC Santa Cruz, PhD in Sociology • More Ultimate • More Radio – Underground Americana • Met Diane (Emmett – our dog) • Various short-term jobs • MA: while writing dissertation • NH: Keene State • NC: Guilford College • Present job at MSU since Fall 1988 • Married Diane • Kid due 6/29/02

My research: • How society produces environmental problems and then blames or tries to control nature rather than alter society. • For example, ag pests and cockroaches. • Also, floods, fires, and earthquakes. • How poor people and people of color come to have more degraded environments than higher income folks and whites. • Chicken and egg/historical questions. • Spatial distribution questions. • Institutional (gov’t, economy, crime) questions\
