Programme focus • Phase 1 • Behaviour change communication • Increasing total condom market • Social condom marketing • Sales and distribution of commercial condoms • Phase 2 (In addition to phase 1) • Improving sexual and reproductive health • Specific focus on sexual rights
Programme objectives • Increased knowledge, attitudes and practices with regard to effective HIV prevention • Improved supply with low priced contraceptives of high quality and other health products • Improved sexual and reproductive health, including sexual rights
Programme activities • Procurement and distribution of subsidized condoms and other health products • Development and implementation of culturally adjusted educational and promotional campaigns by professional advertising agencies • Provision of family planning services for women

Progress of implementation • 4 year sub-contracts with PSI Haiti and PSI DR • Innovative BCC • CSM through traditional and non-traditional outlets • 1 year sub-contract with PSI Caribbean • Concurrence from countries for inclusion in phase 2 • Belize and Suriname-signed. Engaging social marketing organization • Guyana and Jamaica - pending
Progress of implementation….. • Consultative planning meeting • KFW, Options, PANCAP • Review of project performance • Acceleration of implementation of phase 2 • Draft Phase 1 report completed • Review by partners • Final due by 30 September
Action required of the meeting • The meeting is asked to note: • That Phase 2 of the Financing Agreement between CARICOM/PANCAP and Federal Republic of Germany became effective 1 Jan 09 and that Options Consultancy Services has been retained as the executing agency. • The project has been expanded and re-designated “The HIV and AIDS Prevention and Reproductive Health Promotion in the Caribbean.” • The progress of implementation in Phase 2
