What is CREW? • The Centre of Expertise for Waters • A partnership between the James Hutton Institute and all Scottish Higher Education Institutes • Funded by the Scottish Government • Ensuring that water research and knowledge is available and accessible to the Scottish Government and its agencies
What is CREWs role? • Deliver timely and accurate advice to the Scottish Government, Scottish Water and SEPA • Co-ordinate research, analysis and interpretation • Stimulate future innovative thinking • Provide impartial, concise information and readable briefings • Be seen as an honest, trusted and effective hub for knowledge exchange about water from source to sea • Shorten “path length” between, policy, industry and research
Who is CREW? • Led by the James Hutton Institute in a partnership with all Scottish Higher Education Institutions • Contributing partners receive CREW funding to carry out analysis in response to policy and practice needs • The Marine Alliance for Science and Technology (MASTS) at St Andrews University facilitates the involvement of Scottish Higher Education Institutions • SAGES, MASTS, NTI and IHP-HELP Dundee are partner networks • Over 50 academic experts in natural, social and engineering sciences are registered with CREW
