  6. SDGs in the EU • EU to realign its strategy • post-2020 to implement SDGs • EUROCITIES is part of the new SDGs platform: • stakeholder involvement to implement SDGs in EU • chaired by Frans Timmermans • 22 organisations selected

Future of Europe • EC reflection paper on • social dimension of Europe • high-level debate of ExCom on 23 June in Ghent • Other EC reflection papers: harnessing globalisation, deepening the Economic and Monetary Union, future of European defense, future of EU finances • EUROCITIES drafts statement on the future of Europe • building on the Mayors’ Summit (7 March)

CITIES GROW Integration of refugees and migrants through economic activity • Main focus: transferring good practices and approving concrete action plans on the economic integration of migrants and refugees to address the implementation gaps of the Integrating Cities Charter. • Main Activities: • Benchmarking, 4 new toolkits on integration • drafting action plans for local change • study visits in autumn 2017 & implementing visits in mid-2018 • videos • Methodology: City-to-city mentoring, transfer & take-up (study visits, implementing visits) + concrete actions • Major event: Integrating Conference VII – October 2018

URBACT Transfer Network Call open to form 25 transfer networks: transfer one of the 97 URBACT good practices 1 lead city (winner of ‘URBACT good practice’) + 4-7 follower cities Up to 600.000 € for 2-year project deadline: 10 January 2018 EUROCITIES webinar on 27 October Call in 2018 for action-planning networks

Define future EUROCITIES project priorities • growing space for cities in Horizon 2020 calls • increasingly experimentation and collection of good practices • H2020 projects are 100% funded and 25% of indirect costs • Co-creation of future EUROCITIES projects: • Strategic choice of projects to match EUROCITIES priorities • Projects that have an added value for members and Forum • Prioritise projects that are cross cutting / transversal / systemic • Democratic process with our members: discussion in Ex-Com, steering groups, autumn forum meetings, WGs meetings, annual conference in Ljubljana • Check our EUROCITIES project strategy

  18. Matching SAF priorities with H2020 calls Discussion: Which H2020 call do you find most relevant for SAF? Which H2020 call do you find most relevant for your city to apply? (within the WG or other partnerships) Do you have any questions about the upcoming H2020 calls?

  19. What’s next? • After the Autumns forums, we will take the final decision for which calls EUROCITIES should apply as coordinator or partner • EUROCITIES secretariat will not be able to get involved in all projects! • Open call for members to be involved as partner • Cities which are not partners can get involved in project activities (i.e. twinning, case studies, etc.) • When EUROCITIES is not a partner, we can support dissemination of members’ project results in the WGs/SAF

Cross cutting: ECF + SAF + EDF SC5-20-2019: Transforming historic urban areas and/or cultural landscapes into hubs of entrepreneurship and social and cultural integration Actions should develop, demonstrate and document strategies, approaches and solutions to re-activate and re-generate historic urban areas and/or cultural landscapes. They should foster innovation by relevant start-ups, cultural and creative industries, including from the digital technologies sector, small scale advanced manufacturing producers and local 'makers', craft workshops, etc. for adaptive re-use and leverage of heritage assets and social integration. Type of Action: Innovation action Total budget: 29 million Project budget: EUR 7-8 million Deadline: 19 Feb 2019 (first stage)

Cross cutting SC5-14-2019: Visionary and integrated solutions to improve well-being and health in cities Actions should deliver visionary and integrated solutions (e.g. therapy gardens, urban living rooms, creative streets, city farms) at the intersection of social, cultural, digital and nature-based innovation to increase citizens' health and well-being in cities. These solutions should address social, cultural, economic and environmental determinants of health and wellbeing and support urban communities in reducing their exposure to climate-related risks, pollution (including noise), environmental stress and social tensions, including the negative effects of gentrification. Type of Action: Innovation action Total budget: 43 million Project budget: EUR 10 million Deadline: 19 Feb 2019 (first stage)

Cross cutting TRANSFORMATIONS-03-2018-2019: Innovative solutions for inclusive and sustainable urban environments By linking research, innovation and policy, the action will support urban strategies, policies and planning practices to promote equitable, inclusive and sustainable growth, including the uptake of new, participatory and alternative growth models. It will contribute to the advancement of the EU Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Type of Action: 2018 CSA and 2019 RIA Total budget: 2018 1.5 million / 6 million Project budget: CSA 1.5 million / RIA 3 million Deadline: 13 March 2018 / 14 March 2019

Cross cutting: ECF + SAF DT-TRANSFORMATIONS-11-2019: Collaborative approaches to cultural heritage for social cohesion Proposals should develop strategies for fostering collaborative and participative approaches to cultural encounters via communication channels such as social media platforms, participatory approaches, art and co-designed activities. Proposals should consider both tangible and intangible heritage, researching new applications and tools that allow for a more inclusive approach such as digital tagging of objects or co-authoring of societal and place-based memories. Type of Action: research and innovation action Total budget: 12 million Project budget: 3-4 million Deadline: 14 March 2019

  24. Cross cutting: EDF + KSF + SAF DT-GOVERNANCE-05-2018-2019-2020: New forms of delivering public goods and inclusive public services Solutions for opening up and connecting public administration data and services will have a measurable impact for both businesses and citizens, leading to efficiency gains. The actions will provide for all the elements required to facilitate the migration of public administrations towards forward-looking models for the co-delivery of public services. The actions will provide evidence of how the open government approach may reinforce trust in public institutions, which is strongly associated with citizens’ satisfaction from full deployment of inclusive digital government. Type of Action: 2018 CSA / 2019 RIA Total budget: 2018 1.5 million / 2019 8 million Project budget: CSA 1.5 million / RIA 3-4 million Deadline: 13 March 2018 / 14 March 2019
