Personal Qualities. • Name two performance qualities that can be described as physical, and two that can be described as personal. • For the different activities in your SG course, explain five different physical and personal qualities which are required for effective participation.
Rules and Codes of Conduct. • In long jump, the competitor must take off on, or behind the board for the jump to be deemed legal. Choose another individualactivity and list some of the rules which serve a similar purpose. • Choose another activity, and give an example of a rule that makes the activity safe. • In Netball, only the Goal Shooter, and the Goal Attack are allowed to shoot. This is known as ‘shaping’ activities. Give another example of a rule that ‘shapes’ an activity.
Joints • Name the two most common types of joint found in the body, and give a brief description of how the joint works. • Name four different actions, from different activities on your course, and state which joint is used in that action. e.g. javelin – ball and socket joint in the shoulder.
Joints & Muscles • Muscles work in pairs to operate the movement of a joint. Can you name the muscles which control the movement of the joints listed below and describe the actions of the muscles in moving these joints: • Elbow • Knee Now list two activities, and two skills from these activities that would require the movement of these joints?
Balance/ Transfer of Weight • Taking centre of gravity into consideration, what three things effect balance/ stability? • Now think of three activities from your course, and a separate action for each activity where a performer would be transferring their weight. • Think of three more activities out with your course, and a separate action for each of these that would be transferring weight.
Gradual Build Up. • In your own word, describe the term Gradual Build Up. • Now name an activity from your course, and describe how you would learn a skill from that activity using gradual build up. • When would you use this method of learning and what benefit would it have on performance?
Whole – Part - Whole • In your own word, describe the term Whole-Part-Whole. • Now name an activity from your course, and describe how you would learn a skill from that activity using whole-part-whole? • When would you use this method of learning and what benefit would it have on performance?
