UC/CSU Admission Requirements • “a-g” Subject Requirement - specifies the 15 year-long academic courses you must complete in high school. • Examination Requirement - specifies the college admissions tests you must take. • Eligibility Requirement - is the combination of GPA and standardized test scores you must attain.

  3. “a-g” Subject Requirement • UC and CSU have the same subject course requirements • La Salle’s graduation requirements meet or exceed the UC/CSU’s “a-g” subject requirements

  4. Examination Requirement • CSU – either the SAT or ACT (Writing portion not required) • UC – either the SAT or ACT (with Writing). SAT Subject Tests are no longer required. However, they are still strongly recommended for students applying as math & science majors

  5. Eligibility Requirement • UC and CSU will recalculate the student’s GPA in the same manner • GPA is based on UC/CSU approved courses taken during the student’s 10th and 11th grades. • An “A” is worth 4 points, a “B” is worth 3 points, and so forth. • Pluses and Minuses are not counted. • Extra point for approved H and AP courses (up to 8 points)

  6. CSU Eligibility Requirement • Based on student’s UC/CSU GPA and SAT (Reading & Math only) or ACT score. • Sliding scale

What does being CSU eligible mean? • CSU eligible students will be accepted at our local CSUs: • Los Angeles and Northridge (may change) • They may also be accepted in non-impacted CSUs*: • Bakersfield • Channel Islands • Dominguez Hills • Maritime • Stanislaus * Some programs in these campuses may be impacted

What does being CSU eligible mean? • The remaining CSU campuses are currently impacted (higher admission criteria than CSU eligibility): • Chico • East Bay • Fresno • Fullerton • Humboldt • Long Beach • Monterey Bay • Pomona • Sacramento • San Bernardino • San Diego • San Francisco • San Jose • San Luis Obispo • San Marcos • Sonoma CSU Campus Impaction

UC Eligibility Requirement • All students with a 3.0 GPA or higher will be considered for admission • The top 9 percent of California high school graduates who are not admitted to any of the UC campuses they apply to, will be offered a spot at another campus if space is available. A formula (admissions index) determines who falls in that group. • Admissions Calculator

  11. What does being UC eligible mean? • UC eligible students are highly likely to be accepted at UC Merced • UC Merced started denying students with > 3.0 UC GPA last year • The other UCs are more selective. The more selective UCs will not accept all UC eligible students.
