  1. Origami, Printmaking, & Zentangles

  2. What is a Zentangle? • A form of artistic meditation that uses repetitive patterns to create images. • A zentangle new form of artwork that is usually done in black and white, and the patterns have a rhythm. The idea is to let yourself be creative and allow the design to form naturally. VOCAB

  3. Vocab • Pattern- the repetition of a design in an artwork. • Positive Space-is the area or space in an artwork which is occupied by the subject. • Negative Space- is the space around and between the subject of an image

  4. Zentangle Worksheet • Look through the zentangle patterns at your desk and pick 4 patterns you like. • On the side of the worksheet that says Practice, try to copy these patterns to the best of your ability. (One pattern in each blank square) • Next, on the worksheet that says Make You Own come up with 4 of your own designs and draw them in the boxes. *Remember to think about positive and negative space* • Last, create 3 different final sketches of a pattern you created. It can be 3 new patterns you thought of, or you can take a pattern you created and make it better.

  5. Project • You will be combining Origami, Printmaking, and Zentangles to create a 3D Stella Octangula artwork.

  6. Printmaking • The art or process of making an original (plate or block) and using it to make multiple identical copies in various colors.

  7. Relief Print • You start with a flat surface and remove the areas which are to be kept white. • The linoleum block is inked with a brayer and then pressed onto paper. The uncarved areas will then be transferred onto your paper.
