  15. Table 3.2: Definition of altitude classes used in LEAC Lowland: all land below 200 m; lowland can be subdivided between coastal zone (10 km strip from the coastline) and low inland. Upland: all land above 200 m and lower than 500 m, as well as up to 1 000 m when the average slopes in the 1 km² grid cells is < 2 % (i.e. a plateaux surface). Mountain: all land above higher than 1 000 m as well as land between 500 m and 1 000 m, when the average slope in a 3 km x 3 km grid cells is > 2 %.
