Transforming Local Infrastructure • Our journey! • Starting: Start the process of bringing together the specialist youth work infrastructure and volunteering groups • Scoping: Scope with the groups brought together the commitment, opportunity and viability of a common joint approach to Voluntary Youth Sector support and delivery through the Localism agenda • Working: Working with other IL Members develop a communication vehicle between business and youth groups • Coming Together: Bring together Youth Sector Infrastructure & Youth Volunteering Groups to shape the outcomes of work above and identify work required to further build a common support platform. • Further action: Further assess duplication and areas of synergy and relate to development and outcomes in other TLI groups • Outcome: Create ‘Young Lincolnshire’
‘Young Lincolnshire’ • ‘Young Lincolnshire’ is the consortium set up to bring together and strengthen the third sector organisations and infrastructure providers that support young people and youth provision across Lincolnshire • LYA: LYA (YDA affiliate) and UK Youth County Association work to enable young people to participate, develop and achieve, by providing a range of practical support to engage and empower young people and capacity build the organisations that work with them • LCVYS: Is a Charity that provides support to community and voluntary youth services in Lincolnshire. We are a membership infrastructure organisation that provides support, guidance, training and useful information to groups • Discover Volunteering: Runs a bespoke volunteering brokerage service, supports young people and charities across the county and delivers ASDAN’s nationally accredited Community Volunteering Qualifications
‘Young Lincolnshire’ – our aims • To make young peoples lives better by being able to access more chances in life. • To strengthen the voice of young people through networking, training, additional qualifications, volunteer opportunities, achievements and celebration events. • To work closely with communities and partner organisations to reduce duplication and maximise support and resources. • To improve delivery/ access of available support/ provision countywide to increase youth participation. • To use the strengths of LCVYS, LYA and DV to create stronger networks across the county. • Thus to benefit ‘Young Lincolnshire’ by strengthening the Community and Voluntary organisations directly delivering youth services.
The future for ‘Young Lincolnshire’ • Next Steps: • The consortium for Young Lincolnshire are currently biding for funding to host a countywide conference for the benefit of youth organisations and young people, with young people at the heart of the conference • Task: • In groups please discuss: • 'What would you like out of a conference for youth services and young people in Lincolnshire' • Your feedback will be used to support our funding applications
