Knowing what works How will this research help? • Help leadership teams pay attention to what is happening within their CS development process • Provides "real time” feedback to help inform the process • Identify and develop best practices • Identify gaps in the development process • Makes the process of change explicit in order to help others that might be interested in our model of community schools – what to do, how to go about doing it, what to expect.
Knowing what works Outcomes and indicators • What are we looking for? What will change? • How will we know when we’ve found it? • Something you can see, hear, touch, and if necessary, smell and taste
Knowing what works Outcomes and indicators • At your school • What kind of changes do you expect? • How will you know? • Outcome: Parents are strong advocates for their children’s education • Indicators: • Parents understand the school standards and curriculum • Parents regularly communicate with teachers and school staff, formally and informally
Knowing what works Outcomes and indicators • Within your leadership team • What will change within your teams through ACSD? • What will the ideal leadership team for your school look like? • Outcome: increased reflection – perhaps, have the same vision for our community school • Indicators: • All speak the same language about how we talk about our community school • Are knowledgeable about each others programs and work and how the meet student needs
