Zine sketchbooks • 4th and 5th graders create a sketchbook out of folded drawing paper • The sketchbook is used throughout the entire year to record ideas for different assignments • At the end of the school year, as a final assignment, discuss book art and zines • Have students think of ways to transform their previously recorded ideas to make a zine

Student Art Exhibitions “Students as Curators” During the past school year I have had my students reflect on their own art and write a statement about their work (displayed with the artwork) This school year my goal is to improve upon the student knowledge of the exhibition process by involving them in the different aspects of putting together an exhibition. I am assigning duties of curator, designer, and audience specialist (The students will learn how much work is needed to develop an exhibit.). *This is a process that is just beginning for me at my school. I do not have visuals to attach yet!
