  2. habitat • The arctic fox lives in the artic. • It is very cold and windy where they live.

  3. babies • Baby arctic foxes are called kits or pups. • Baby foxes look like their mom and dads. • Kits start hunting at 14 weeks. • Babies are born inside dens.

  4. Predators • Polar bears and wolves hunt them. • Other types of foxes and people hunt them.

  5. food • Artic foxes eat lemmings, voles, hares and nesting birds. • Artic foxes sometimes look for scraps left over by larger animals such as polar bears.

  6. Appearance • In the fall and winter, Artic foxes have thick, white fur. • In the spring and summer, artic foxes have gray or brown fur.

  7. Special • A group of Artic foxes is called a skulk or a leash. These groups are usually made up of 2 or 3 adults, and 3 to 12 babies. • Artic foxes are nocturnal – they stay awake at night and sleep in the day. • An Artic fox is a mammal.
